New Theory of Learning for the Digital Age- Part 1
In 2002, I began researching Early Childhood Development and
discovered a New Theory of Learning for the Digital Age. During those days,
people did not believe that 3-year old toddlers could learn computer skills.
Now I see children under the age of 2 playing games on the parents’ I-phones.
The Digital Age is a rapidly changing environment. We learn
in clips, rather than streams. The student captures clips, store them, and
bring them to recall when something is associated with it is presented… in
other words: Cognition and Recognition. This is the disjointed process of
learning.
Teach by Engagement, not by Rote Learning and Repetition.
Memorization is not Associative Learning. The student must be involved in the
active learning process.
